Servants in a Wealthy Family
Signed lower right
Source: Judy (31 October 1894): 215
The man servant wears a breeches and stockings, a style of clothing dating back to eighteenth-century. The shirt and tie are Victorian updates. The maid wears what is essentially a normal Victorian indoor dress over which her apron (and her cap) distinguish her from members of the family.
