This shows the range of Marochetti's work. It was not unusual for sculptors to design these sorts of pieces, though. In the Great Exhibition, Marocchetti had exhibited a large terracotta vase with bas-reliefs of mythological subjects: Neptune and Amphitrite (goddess of the sea) on one side, and "Sirens restraining Boreas" on the other (Great Exhibition, 710).
