Every year over 1,000 doctoral dissertations from universities worldwide examine the broad scope of women's history and health care issues. This new scholarship is coming from a widely diverse number of scholarly professions, from architecture through women's studies. Broad topics include biographies of notable women throughout history, the portrayal of women in literature and the arts, and women's efforts throughout history as reformers, scholars, artists, and leaders. In the area of women's health care dissertations cover specific diseases, women's roles as health care providers past and present, and basic themes in women's health care.
