Kay Boardman is a graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Strathclyde. She taught at the University of Central Lancashire between 1992 and 2012 and has also been an Associate Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University, Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Strathclyde.

Dr. Boardman is the co-editor, with Margaret Beetham, of Victorian Women’s Magazines: An Anthology (2001), Popular Victorian Women Writers (2004), with Shirley Jones (to which she also contributed a chapter on Eliza Meteyard), and 1848: The Year the World Turned (2007) with Christine Kinealy.

She has published a wide variety of articles on Victorian periodicals and women’s writing. Her essays have appeared in a range of British and American journals, including Victorian Studies, Victorian Periodicals Review, Journal of Victorian Culture and Education and Training. She has also contributed book chapters and reviews to studies and glossaries of Literary Studies and has published poems in a number of magazines and collections including Best of Manchester Poets (vol.2).

She currently divides her time between running a small Learning and Development business and writing poetry.
