ngela Bolger is an art historian and writer. She has worked for many years in museums and galleries, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Whitworth Art Gallery, Taplow Court and Leighton House Museum in the areas of research, curation and education. She has organised exhibitions and contributed essays to catalogues. Currently her special interest is in women artists and models, whose stories have been sidelined or lost in the historical record. During lockdown she wrote a play about the Jamaican-born artists' model, Fanny Eaton, who collaborated with the Pre-Raphaelites, including Rebecca and Simeon Solomon, Rossetti, Millais, Joanna Boyce Wells, William Blake Richmond and Albert Moore. In this one-woman show, an incredibly versatile performer plays not only Fanny, but twelve other characters in her story, including the aforementioned artists, the critics and her own husband and daughter. The play was first produced in 2022 and again in 2023 and received very positive critical response and audience reaction. Angela's article on Mary Lloyd, featured here on the Victorian Web, gives another model her chance to take centre stage.
