o Devereux, who received her doctorate from the University of Toronto in 1996, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Writing Studies at Western University, in London, Ontario, Canada. She is the author of The Making of Women Artists in Victorian England (2016) and Patriarchy and Its Discontents: Sexual Politics in Selected Novels and Stories of Thomas Hardy (2003) and has recently published articles on nineteenth-century women artists and art education in Victorian Review and Victorian Periodicals Review. She was one of the two founding editors of the journal Nineteenth-Century Feminisms, which ran from Fall 1999 to Summer 2003. Currently, she is President of the Victorian Studies Association of Ontario and Book Reviews Editor for English Studies in Canada.
