I earned my Ph.D. at the University of South Carolina in 2003 and am currently an Assistant Professor at Black Hills State University. My dissertation, "Wedded Women, Wicked Women: Marriage, Morality, and Maternity in the Work of Margaret Oliphant," explores how Oliphant uses socially charged roles for women such as wife and mother to widen the boundaries of the private sphere. My current research continues to focus on Victorian Scottish literature and depictions of Victorian Scotland. I may be contacted via e-mail at maryhusemann@bhsu.edu.
