Click on arrow to hear the song performed by Derek B. Scott, Professor of Critical Musicology, University of Leeds, to his own piano accompaniment c. 1980.
According to Professor Scott, this is a type of piano piece known as the "descriptive fantasia," in which the sheet music contains references to the various events being represented (here, it is the relief of Delhi). The recording is of a performance given before a live audience at Edinburgh's Caledonian Club and uses a musical edition that carries an assurance that it has been "carefully corrected and fingered by the famous composer Haydon Augarde."
