The Thomas Hardy Memorial Window (1930)
St. Michael's parish church, Stinsford
The design alludes to one of Hardy's favourite biblical passages (1 Kings 19), which he refers to in the poem "Quid Hic Agis?" Although Hardy was not a devout Anglican, he loved all the traditions associated with the local church and deplored the elimination of its "quire" (musicians) in Under the Greenwood Tree.
