Enid the Fair by Sir George Frampton, R.A., P.R.B.S. (1860-1928). 1907. Bronze with black-brown patina ebony black veneered plinth inscribed in white "Enid the Fair.". Overall height 22 inches, bronze 14 inches. "Bust of a girl, her eyes looking downward, with a band: in her hair signed on side G. Frampton 1907. Private collection (2013). According to the 1983 Shepherd Gallery catalogue, "The subject is inspired by Tennyson's Idylls of the King series, one of which is entitled "Enid and Geraint." Frampton was one of the most distinguished of late Victorian sculptors, and is best known for his famous statue of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens." [Click on these images to enlarge them.]
