In stanza vii, Outside the ivy-covered arches, Leonara droops sadly amid general rejoicing and watches while others embrace their returning menfolk: "to her pale lip / No loving lip is prest." In the lower left-hand corner is a single bird: its counterpart on the right is a snake.
