St Peter
Heaton, Butler and Bayne (stylistic attribution by Robert Eberhard)
After 1877
South Aisle 1 stained glass window (left of two lights)
St Luke, Kentish Town, North London
This is another of a pair of lights among a series of windows attributed to the firm in Basil Champneys' first commissioned work. According to the listing text, which makes a definite identification, "Aisles contain a series depicting the twelve apostles, all c.1880-90 by Heaton, Butler and Bayne." The inscription gives the sad information that this window is in memory of William Sholto Douglas, who had been a chorister in the church for six years, and who died on 24 October 1877 just short of his fourteenth birthday.
