Jesus in the Temple by C. E. Kempe & Co., 1910 (as recorded in the Winchester Diocesan Chronicle of that November). This window, on the wall of the south choir aisle, makes a pair with the one of the Epiphany at the apsidal end of the south choir aisle, behind the altar in St Anne’s Chapel, Romsey Abbey. Like that one, which dates from the same time, it was given in memory of the Hon. Evelyn Ashley (Edwina Mountbatten’s grandfather) of Broadlands, who died in 1907. Both designs are rather dark, relieved, however, by lighter canopied decoration at the top.
