icole Lobdell is currently an Assistant Professor of English at Northwestern State University of Louisiana. Previously, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at DePauw University in Indiana and a Marion L. Brittain Fellow in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Georgia.

With expertise in 19th-century British literature, Nicole Lobdell publishes and teaches courses on gender and sexuality studies, Gothic literature, health humanities, and science fiction studies. Her work has appeared in Nineteenth-Century Gender Studies, Victorian Network, and Science Fiction Studies. She is the author of X-RAY (Bloomsbury, 2024), part of the publisher's popular Object Lessons series, and she co-edited a critical edition of H.G. Wells’s The Invisible Man for Broadview Press in 2018. Currently she serves as an editor for the interdisciplinary journal Nineteenth Century Studies and as the webmaster for Interdisciplinary Nineteenth-Century Studies (INCS).

Her research has been supported by external awards and fellowships from the NEH, the Huntington Library, Lincoln College at the University of Oxford (UK), the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin, and the East-West Center for Asian Studies at the University of Hawai’i.
