[Victorian Web Home —> George P. Landow]
ews of Professor Landow's passing circulated widely on Twitter, and accumulated many heart and praying hands e-mojis in the process, as well as more comments in other people's Twitter streams. But some wrote brief messages in response to our initial announcement, and this is a representative sample of them.
Dr Ailsa Boyd @AilsaBoyd:
This is very sad. I've used @VictorianWeb regularly for over 20 years and it is a continually evolving, reliable, illuminating resource. What a testament of scholarship George Landow has left us with.
Antonella S. @asbrilli:
"Though the primary brain has been eclipsed, there is, in those who remain and who are gathered to remember and reactivate the spirit of the departed, a collective corona that still glows" (Hofstadter) Thanks Prof. Landow.
BSMGP @BSMGP:
We're so very sorry to hear this.
Lauren Conrad @Leisle93:
I still remember being 14 years old, discovering my absolute obsession with Victorian England and finding the treasure trove that is your website. Also, 16 years later, I've read more books on the subject and gained a bit of life experience. But otherwise, not much has changed. I'm still reading and writing novels about Victorian England all these years later and your site is still a treasure trove.
Sarah Doyle @PoetSarahDoyle:
My sincere condolences for your loss, and also great appreciation for such a precious legacy.
Madeleine Emerald @emeraldthiele:
