Punch shows its attitude toward the Quaker reformer John Bright, who had begun to campaign for what became the Second Reform Bill eight years later, by showing him battered by Punch and adding the caption: “Our once facetious contemporary is by no means funny this week [Vide Bright, in his Great Political Organ, the ‘Morning Star.’”
