The inscription on the bronze plaque on the marble base of the bronze tomb reads as follows. “To the memory of Frederic, Lord Leighton of Stretton, Painter, Sculptor, Seventh President of the Royal Academy of Arts, this monument is erected by his many admirers. Born Dec 3rd 1830. Died Jan 25th 1896. He lies buried in the crypt of this cathedral.” [Click on images to enlarge them.]
