An equestrian bronze of King Carlo Alberto of Savoy (1798-1849) produced between 1856-1860 by Carlo Marochetti and located since 1861 in the Piazza Carlo Alberto in Turin. Arranged on the middle level of the plinth are eight additional figures in bronze: four soldiers wearing uniforms corresponding to their military function (infantry, artillery, etc.) and based on originals sent to Marochetti by Stanislas Grimaldi, Count of Poggetto (1825-1903); and four feminine allegorical figures representing independence, justice, freedom, and martyrdom.
