Dancing Girl Reposing. William Calder Marshall. 1848. Parian ware, 18 inches including self-base. Inscribed Inscribed: “Marshall / Cheverton / Sculp” on side of tree trunk. Benjamin Cheverton invented a machine, which he showed at the 1851 Exhibition, that reduced sculptural works so they could be made into porcelain figures.
