Henrietta Montalba

Terracotta

This is another of Montalba's portraits that Marion Hepworth-Dixon (1856-1936) admires. She calls it Montalba's "original, comprehensive, and vigorous version of the poet, Robert Browning" (216). This would have been sculpted in the last year of Browning's life (he died in Venice on 12 December 1889). [Click on the image to enlarge it.]
